All U.S. Sales Managers Indexes Move To Fresh 2022 Highs In October. But Price Inflation Remains High


 
All United States Sales Managers Indexes registered healthy growth in economic activity levels this month.


The Market Growth and Sales Growth Indexes, registered index levels of 54.6 and 53.5 respectively, reflected a more buoyant environment than seen for some time. The former reached a 9 month high and the latter an 8 month high in October.

Business Confidence rose to a 9 month high in October, and with a positive index reading of 53.2, now remains well clear of the 50 "no growth" line. The Headline Sales Managers Index, summarising these trends, jumped from 50.6, to a healthy 53.0 level, also well above the no growth line.

The most negative aspect of the October data is the Prices Charged Index, which remains high at 56.0, indicating the continuing presence of significant price inflation in producer markets generally. Price inflation has very definitely not yet been vanquished.
