US Sales Managers Index Rises to
25-month High in February


 
The US Sales Managers Index accelerated to a 53.3 reading in February, a 25 month high. The Business Confidence Index similarly rose to a 25-month high indicating considerable confidence in the future. In addition, all Sales Managers growth related Indexes registered strongly positive readings in February.


These indexes are currently reflecting economic growth over a wide spectrum of economic activity in the USA.

Below the surface of continuing growth some trends remain less than perfect : The Price Index remains high with a February reading of 52.9, reflecting continuing price inflation, but this Index reading also represented a 13 month low, indicating a continuing downward trend, which must be comfortable reading for the Federal Reserve.

Suddenly 2024 looks less like the widely anticipated recession year, and more like a year of significant growth.

In summary, the economy is buoyant, with growth apparent in many areas of business activity, including most obviously defence related areas, augmented by high levels of Government expenditure.
