India, Pakistan and Bangladesh Fall in the Global Governance Index


 
Ratings across South Asia have declined on the World Economics Governance Index over the last decade. These ratings determine the grading of countries on the Index. As a result, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka have each been demoted by a grade over that period.

Index: 0-100. 0=Poor, 100=As good as it gets

This portrays a decline in standards across data reflecting corruption, the rule of law, press freedom and political rights. Consequently, half of South Asia is now rated poor to extremely poor (D- to E-grade). Only Bhutan retains a solid B-grade rating. This presents an increasingly concerning environment for investors interested in South Asia.
